Keeping The Quiz Fresh

Once you have been creating a quiz for a little while, it can get difficult to keep coming up with new ideas to keep the quiz fresh and interesting for players. But if you keep doing the same quiz each week, it can get repetitive and boring for players (and hosts!).

You need to find a balance, otherwise you will end up spending days trying to write your quiz, and driving yourself crazy in the process.

For my question rounds, I find that rotating through my standard categories (Science, Geography, Entertainment) as well as having a General Knowledge round, which can cover any topics, plus another more random topic (you can ask players to suggest rounds, or offer the chance for a team to choose a round as a prize).

For my tabletop round, I tend to switch between picture rounds, and wordplay/ditloids/dingbat type rounds, as sticking with just one will have you running out of ideas pretty soon. When I talk to friends about this who aren't quizzers, they will always come up with suggestions for you, which will almost always be rounds you have made previously! That said, listen to their suggestions, and keep your eyes and ears open at all times as inspiration for coming up with new rounds can come from anywhere. I have also used voice note/notebook apps on my phone for any ideas that come to me when I'm not able to create the rounds straight away.

The other option which can save you a lot of time and effort is to get pre-made quizzes which, funnily enough, I have a selection of available on OneStopTrivia. You can find them for very reasonable prices at the following links (also with a few freebies for you to check out and try):
